Booth Placement at Trade Shows

Booth Placement at Trade Shows

Believe it or not, where you place your booth at a trade show is just as important as whether or not you go at all. When you consider the time, effort, and cost associated with participating in and exhibiting at a trade show, if your booth is in a less-than-optimum spot, your ROI will be nowhere near where you need it to be.

All in all, the ends of rows and corners are generally solid spots. You usually have room for a larger booth, bigger displays, bolder graphics, and your area is usually larger in general, allowing you to create an eye-catching space. This is a well known fact, however, and many trade show venues will charge more money for a spot that is at the end of a row or on a corner.

If a more expensive spot is out of your budget range, think about a space right near the entrance. Many experts will tell you that near the entrance is a bad place, because people are just getting to the show and will want to make the rounds before they stop anywhere. These people will tell you that by the time people make the rounds; they will not remember to come back to your booth. This is the key. Your booth needs to have something that catches the eye and draws the visitor right in. Forget about making it so good that people want to come back – make it so good that people can’t pass it by.

Another good place for your tradeshow display that won’t cost you a ton of money is right near the restrooms. Odds are that the majority of people attending the trade show will visit the restroom at least once. Other exhibitors will visit multiple times. Having your display near the restrooms gives you the opportunity to get a lot of exposure, and if you have a giveaway that people will find useful after visiting the restroom, like hand sanitizer, bottled water, or mints, you’ve made your spot indispensible for people at the show, thus putting you in a great position to talk about your product or service.
